A Growing Concern

Cancer is a growing concern in our industry as more and more firefighters are diagnosed with this disease than ever before. A recent multi-year study by the CDC on cancer among U.S. firefighters (1) showed higher rates of certain types of cancer than among the general U.S. population. The study also provides evidence that these higher rates are directly related to occupational exposure.

INNOTEX GRAY™ is designed to address this very issue. This line of protective interfaces is made to mitigate the risks of carcinogenic particulate contamination while maintaining air permeability. Developed to meet the proposed requirements of NFPA 1971, 2018 edition, the particulate blocking layer blocks carcinogenic particulates 0.1 µm to 1.0 µm that are found in the combustion of structural fires by greater than 99%. Yet, that same layer also allows for air permeation, which is essential to reduce the risk of increased core temperature.

Occupational exposure to carcinogens

INNOTEX GRAY is a series of protective interfaces that addresses the growing industry concern of increased cancer cases in firefighters. By using a particulate blocking layer, we can effectively mitigate the risks of carcinogenic particulate contamination while maintaining air permeability.

INNOTEX GRAY aims to protect multiple vulnerable areas, including the head, neck, wrists, body and legs, while maintaining comfort and mobility.

Wherever you see gray, you’re equipped with a particulate blocking layer.

PARTICULATE BLOCKING LAYER

INNOTEX GRAY™ uses a particulate blocking layer that reduces the risk of contamination by particulates 0.1 to 1.0 microns (µm) found in the combustion of structural fires by >99%.

AIR PERMEABLE

INNOTEX GRAY™ allows for air permeation, which is essential to reduce the risk of increased core temperature.

3 LAYER SYSTEM

3 layers – just like your Turnout.

The exterior layer is a 20%/80% Nomex/Lenzing blend. The middle layer, a proprietary version of Stedair® PREVENT, blocks more than 99% of particulates ranging from 0.1 to 1.0 microns. The inner liner is a smooth, cooling multi-filament viscose.
